Leaf of the Day, No. 82, New Leaf Paper

New Leaf Paper fits in nicely with our series of “Leaf Mash-Up” logos, which we’ve been rattling off for the last couple of weeks. New Leaf mashes a leaf with a piece of paper. Seems logical, after all the company does have the word “leaf” in the name and actually makes and sells paper products. New Leaf has established a pretty solid foothold in the paper industry and sustainability, probably earning it the right. Just last week, New Leaf Paper announced that it is in the process of developing a tracking code system to allow customers to reference the source of the paper and its carbon footprint all by scanning a code with a smartphone.

I’ve seen the New Leaf logo all over the place, and I’ve always cringed at the idea of a realistic leaf in an identity. However, I will say that if it had to be done, New Leaf does it pretty well. It would be easy to render childishly or conversely settle for a clipart leaf photo. So for that I commend them.
